DAY
1: ARRIVE DELHI
Arrive Delhi to be escorted from the airport to the hotel;
overnight in Delhi.
DAY 2: NEW DELHI TOUR
After a relaxed breakfast, start a tour of New Delhi. Drive
along Rajpath, the capital's broadest avenue, on to
Rashtrapati Bhawan or the Parliament House (residence of the
President of India) finally to emerge at India Gate. Visit
Humayun's Tomb, the Qutab Minar and the colorful Birla Mandir.
Enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant where you are
treated to traditional Indian hospitality. Overnight in Delhi.
DAY 3: OLD DELHI AGRA (203 KMS)
After breakfast, start out for the Red Fort, built by Shah
Jahan, Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, Ashoka Pillar,
and the ancient Chandni Chowk bazaar. In the afternoon, drive
to Agra, en route stopping at Sikandra, to visit the tomb of
Emperor Akbar. Overnight at Agra.
DAY 4: FATEHPUR SIKRI AND AGRA SIGHTSEEING (TAJ IS CLOSED
ON FRIDAY)
In the morning, visit Emperor Akbar's 16th century abandoned
city of Fatehpur Sikri. Remarkably well preserved, this is a
perfect blend of Muslim, Hindu and Jain architecture. In the
afternoon return to Agra to explore the 16th century Agra
Fort. Follow this with a visit to the magnificent Taj Mahal
and absorb the monuments fascinating transformation as
the sun sets. Overnight in Agra.
DAY 5: AGRA RANTHAMBHORE (260 KMS)
After breakfast drive to the remains of a 1000-year-old
fortress of Ranthambhore which is today a wildlife sanctuary;
leopards and tigers promise to give you a great treat here. On
arrival hotel check in; rest of the day is at leisure.
Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 6: IN RANTHAMBHORE
After snacks, begin a jungle safari through Ranthambhore, one
of the few reserves in India where you can still catch a
glimpse of the magnificent tiger. Nearly hunted to extinction
by the royalty and their British overlords, the Royal Bengal
tiger has found a safe haven here, thanks to Project Tiger and
the World Wildlife Fund. Overnight in Ranthambhore.
DAY 7: RANTHAMBHORE JAIPUR (190 KMS)
Drive to the Pink City, visit Hawa Mahal or the Palace of
Winds, and then the City Palace which stands proud with its
latticed balconies, miniature windows, courtyards and arched
entrances. A stop at the ancient observatory of Jantar Mantar
concludes the tour. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 8: JAIPUR (AMBER FORT EXCURSION)
Get transported back to a regal past as you ride atop
elegantly draped elephants to the mountain fortress of Amber,
an outstanding example of Rajput architecture. The afternoon
is at leisure. Overnight in Jaipur.
DAY 9: JAIPUR UDAIPUR (BY AIR)
In the morning, fly to Udaipur and tour this famous City of
Lakes, possibly the most picturesque and romantic cities in
the world. Visit City Palace, Saheliyon ki Bari or Garden of
Maids and the folklore museum where you can enjoy a string
puppet show. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 10: UDAIPUR - RANAKPUR EXCURSION (90 KMS)
Drive down to the beautiful 15th century sculpted Jain
temples of Ranakpur. The intricately carved white marble
temple of Adinath, the most well-preserved and impressive
examples of Western Indian temple architecture is a splendid
sight. The temple dedicated to the Sun God is famed for its
erotic sculpture. Stop for lunch at Maharani Bagh, a mango
grove and private gardens of the Maharana of Jodhpur.
Overnight in Udaipur.
DAY 11: UDAIPUR - DELHI (BY AIR)
Drive to the airport for flight to Delhi. Transfer to the
hotel on arrival. The rest of the day is free for leisure
activities. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 12: DELHI
Transport will be arranged for departure transfer to the
international airport.
